ABOUT OUR CHURCH
HISTORY
PPC was birthed in 1964 in the community of Bay Ridges. For the first few years of its existence, the congregation met in a school auditorium. In 1968, property was purchased at the corner of Eyer and Oklahoma Drive and a small building was erected. In 1978, a new auditorium and Christian Education facility were added. By 2000, PPC had outgrown the property and moved to its current location.
CULTURALLY DIVERSE
We are a multi-cultural congregation that celebrates our diversity. We like to think that PPC is a microcosm of what it will be like in heaven, as described in Revelation 5:9, where we are told the people of God will be "from every tribe and language and people and nation."
AFFILIATION
We are affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC) that has a fellowship of over 1100 churches across Canada. We believe in the empowerment of the Holy Spirit so that we can go into all the world and make disciples as Jesus has instructed us to do. We are in alignment with PAOC’s Statement of Fundamental & Essential Truths.
OUR CORE VALUES
Biblically Based
The Bible is the foundation for transformation and growth in the lives of individuals. We present Scripture in a relevant manner, as the guide for successful living. We base our beliefs on a deep understanding and knowledge of what the Word of God says about God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in people having a personal relationship with Jesus and that salvation only comes through Jesus, the Son of God. We believe in the fullness of the Holy Spirit who empowers us to live Godly lives.
Relevant Worship
We celebrate God’s love in praise that reaches His heart with joy and reverence, fulfilling the believer and attracting the un-churched.
Spiritual Intimacy
We encourage the development of spiritual intimacy with God. We promote development of such deep personal relationship with God through the Spirit and the Word. We are committed to prayer, and to fasting and encourage intentionality in spiritually preparing for the unique dynamics of the end times.
Developing Disciples
We’re committed to real discipleship. This means we really want to grow more and more like Christ. We want to be a group of believers who are actively being the change (*salt and light) wherever we are – living lives that point others to Christ. (*Matthew 5:13-14)
Equipping People
We equip people to grow in their purpose, empowering them for a lifetime of ministry and leadership.
Relationally Centered
We connect people through purposeful relationships and accountability in small groups. Building authentic communities both in and outside the church.
Building Strong Families
We emphasize biblically healthy and caring relationships. We provide an environment, which strengthens marriages and families. We offer an environment where we care for one another with the qualities that attract love and unity amidst diversity, which Christ said, His followers would be known for.
Youth & Future Minded
We disciple and develop the children and youth of our church and community. We emphasize their value and importance. We will strive to make future leaders out of them, starting from an early age.
Passionate Outreach
We are committed to reaching our community and the world with the message of Jesus Christ. Living beyond ourselves and bringing hope to our world.
Community Centered
We believe that every community deserves a great church and we seek to be that church, who through our programs can help lift up and meet the needs of people in our communities, and beyond.
REV. MARIE MILLER
Pastor Marie joined the pastoral staff of Pickering Pentecostal Church as Lead Pastor in September 2017. An excellent communicator of God’s Word, generating enthusiasm and faith, along with her energetic personality, she appeals to a diverse congregation and touches lives cross-generationally. She has a burning passion for releasing the next generation into their rightful service in the Kingdom of God.
Pastor Marie’s former background in the corporate business world, coupled with two decades of ministry experience as an Evangelist are the components that she brings to the Team Leadership of PPC. Her compelling ministry together with the incredibly gifted staff at PPC, will be fused as they reach out to touch lives across Durham. Her vision is to see a Word-based, prayer-centric community of worshippers reaching across generations and cultures with the spirit-empowered gospel of Christ, offering hope and a future to all within its reach!

Our Vision:
"To be a Christ-directed church, prayerfully working together to produce a healthy, growing and loving body of believers." - Ephesians 4:15-16
